Star Wars Party
Oh my gosh! My sons and husband have been waiting for this day for forever! We pre-bought tickets to see the newest Star Wars Movie tonight, and just for fun, I set up this little Star Wars Party earlier in the week. We watched the last movie in the series, nibbled on popcorn, and snacks, and got even more excited to see the movie!
I was able to put this party together using a lot of the boys’ Star Wars toys. I bought the snacks, some party favors, and favor bags from Target and Subway. I also made a lot for the party. I drew R2D2 on a piece of poster board and used it and a Light Saber night light from my sons’ room as the backdrop. Small individual servings of popcorn were served in silver glitter boxes I made with my Sizzix (see here for the DIY), I just embellished the front of the boxes with key chains (I removed the chains) stuck on with glue dots. I made Han Solo in Carbonite candies, and Light Saber Candy tubes. Finally, I made everyone a Star Wars Shirt with iron on vinyl.
Since this party was just for our family and done after school, I only served snacks. I bought mini cupcakes from Target and placed them on The Millennium Falcon. Darth Vader and a Clone Trooper masks flanked the table. I also served Han Solo candies I made using candy melts, crushed candy canes, and Wilton grey food spray paint. I bought the ice mold at Five Below, and it was perfect for the candies! After Halloween I purchased some R2D2 gummy candies at Target, and Star Wars Jelly Belly mini packs at Kohl’s. The kids don’t get to drink soda very often, but I found fun Star Wars can coolers in the Target Dollar Spot, so I placed a can of coke in each one and the boys picked out their favorite can coolers.
After we were finished snacking, each of the boys picked out the Subway (yes, the restaurant) bag they liked best. For just $1 each, I purchased the kids meal bags, and they came with a mini DIY Light Saber. The kids can reuse them as lunch bags, or even activity bags for car trips or restaurant visits. The boys filled their own bags with tattoos, pencils, notebooks, candies, the candy Light Sabers I made, and their t-shirts.
We are SO ready to see the new movie tonight! Are you going to see it?
