Sugar Skull Tin Can Candle Lantern DIY
Sugar Skull Tin Can Candle Lantern DIY. Yesterday I shared a simple Dollar Tree Sugar Skull DIY, and I mentioned how very trendy sugar skulls are right now. I saw some tin can candle lanterns at Target and they were about $5 each…not too bad if you jus want one, but, if you want a whole bunch, it can get pretty expensive. It’s such a simple idea, and it can be replicated so inexpensively!
Supplies:
Soup or vegetable can
Spray Paint
Nail Punch or drill and small drill bits
Printed skull image
Tape
Optional flowers, plastic cup, and flameless candle
Begin by gathering up as many cans as you want for lanterns. I spray painted them first with a few coats of paint. I used several fun and bright colors, as well as a few more pale colors.
Once the paint was dry, I taped my skull image to the can. Then, I carefully drilled holes around the perimeter of the skull, and changed bits to make larger circles for the eyes. On the larger cans with bigger skull images, I was able to add some designs inside the skull as well.
Once the holes were drilled out, I added another quick coat of paint.
Next, I added a flameless candle inside the can.
Finally, I arranged an inexpensive bouquet of grocery store flowers to a small cup. The cup fit perfectly inside the can and sat just above the flameless candle!
I was able to make a whole bunch of Sugar Skull Tin Can Lanterns using supplies I already had at home!
