Back to School Celebration

Back to School Celebration. You guys…I have 4 kids(!), three of them expect me to throw a party because it’s a random Tuesday in August. I also have a niece and a nephew that want to have the same celebratory lifestyle their cousins have…I throw a lot of parties…even without guests that aren’t family. You know, when you have a big family, you can just invite everyone over and call it a party. 

So, as back to school season approached, I was asked by each of my kids to have party for just their friends…3 parties, for.back.to.school. For real! I tried to keep them simple, and fun. This party was a quick styled party for the kids and I really like it quite a bit! 

I set up the party at my husband’s office, and I used my vintage desk to hold the goodies. Oriental Trading Company sent me the chalkboards, wooden blocks, foam magnetic letters, and tiny word scramble games.  

I used the large chalkboard as a welcome sign, and the smaller ones as food tents. Oriental Trading also has the most amazing chalk pens! Yay for not touching chalk!!!

I stacked blocks and set them on the table. I gathered some of our favorite early elementary books to stack on the table with a sweet ceramic apple for one of our favorite teachers. A yummy cake was garnished with red gum balls and placed in the center of the table.  

The kids played word games, and chatted about who would have what teacher, and hoped that they would share a lunch table and recess time as they finished their elementary school career.
