Rustic Romantic Wedding Reception with Marry Me. My hubby and I are celebrating our 20th anniversary this summer, and it feels like it was yesterday! We DIY’d almost the entire wedding and paid for the whole thing on our Discover Card. We spray painted, we shopped for linens, we found a vintage tux, and our bridesmaid dresses were from Dillard’s, and the flower girls’ dresses were from the Limited Too and Macy’s on clearance. We had so much fun making sure every detail was perfect…but, I would totally be lying if I told you I would do the same thing today. I seriously want to get married again so we can have another dream wedding! But, in lieu of that, I jumped at the opportunity to work with Oriental Trading Company’s new wedding brand, Marry Me. I knew I would style the reception in our new party space. (I love every little detail of this space) To soften the space, I hung white curtains from the exposed beam rafters. I swagged them to the post and tied them with burlap ribbon. I also hung white paper lanterns and beautiful little hanging glass globes with lights in them from the ceiling. Since I am a rustic girl, I used our old metal ladder as part of the decor, and simply placed 8oz bottles of Coca-Cola on the steps with a marquee letter R on top. A second marquee & symbol was on the ground next to the ladder as well. A vintage style Coca Cola crate was left on the bar for empty bottles and even a little ring toss. The back wall is a warm pallet wood wall, but I hung a vintage window on the wall with a reproduction farm style windmill.
The sweetheart table was topped with a simple white table cloth from Marry Me, and a burlap runner. The centerpiece was a wooden disc from Marry Me, topped with galvanized bucket candles and a simple mason jar bouquet. Simple white plates were topped with a pale grey napkin from Marry Me that I embellished with my Cricut and iron on vinyl. Instead of wine glasses, I added two 8oz glasses of Coca Cola.
I wanted to add some personal touches to the food table. It’s so important to keep every party true to who you are, but, especially your wedding. I included a family favorite, chocolate chip cookies, and individual bottles of milk. I used a vintage milk cooler to hold the milk jugs. I also used three cakes instead of one large cake. Two rum cakes from Bootlegger Bakery sat on simple white cake plates on either side of a vanilla cake. A glass serving dispenser was filled with water, and several bottles of wine and spritzers were served from a 6 bottle caddy.
I am so very tempted to host a vow renewal and recreate this sweet celebration of love and a lifetime spent together.
Check back this week for a simple seating chart DIY, and easy eco-conscious favors.
