Simple Spring Decor. When I was a young girl, I would color for hours and hours on end…as I grew older, and had lots of active little boys, my time to color has been cut short. I just don’t have the time to sit and color. However, when my father in law passed away recently, I made myself sit at the table and just color. It didn’t matter what I was coloring, I just needed an outlet. I needed to take the time for myself and just not think too hard about anything. It was such an amazing release. I am truly looking forward to the next time that I can just sit and color again.
As a design team member for Sizzix and Xyron, I am sent a plethora of fun crafting tools. Some I know how to use, others I need more help with. Tim Holtz’ Flower Garden set from Sizzix is definitely one of the ones I needed more help with! Since I was taking time for myself to kind of decompress, I decided I would try to make some tiny paper flowers and color them. I made a Sizzix Sandwich with the Flower Garden & Mini Boutique Framelits. {Magnetic Pad, Cutting pad, paper, Framelit, Cutting Pad} and rolled it through my Sizzix Big Shot. Once I was finished, I had these tiny little nondescript paper flowers and stems. Again, challenging myself, I decided to use the matching stamp sets to add a little definition to the paper flowers. I am not a stamper, I am a really average {at best} paper crafter…but these paper flowers needed help. So, I messed up my first stamp, and moved forward with the rest like a boss! They were looking more like flowers. I pulled out my PrismaColor pencils and I got to coloring. It was so nice!
However, once I was finished with them, what was I going to do with these little colored paper flowers? I have a metal bucket obsession collection, and I wanted to use some in my Spring Decor. I thought it would be fun to make stickers and some on to the buckets…I could use vinyl, but, I had these paper flowers I colored, and my Xyron Creative Station calling my name {quietly}…Then, I thought, I could make stickers, sure, but I could also make MAGNETS! What? Yes!! Magnets, custom, DIY magnets, for my bucket collection! And those flowers are PERFECT for Spring decor! So, I whipped out my magnet roll for my Creative Station and rolled my colored flowers right on through the machine…and had a sheet of magnets with flower pieces randomly stuck to it. {I thought it through so thoroughly, LOL} So, I had to cut around the flower pieces with tiny scissors, but, it worked, and I loved the outcome. If I had used the Xyron Creative Station sticker roll for the flowers, I could have saved myself some time…but, it all worked out.
I filled the little buckets with faux greenery and painted plastic eggs, and even some candy and placed them on my entry table. We are ready for Spring!
