Memorial Day Celebration
Memorial Day Celebration. Every year for Memorial Day, we host our families for a day of food and fun! With four boys, and two businesses to run, the more simple the party, the better!
The menu is store bought, grilled, or super easy to make! The dessert table is candy, apple pie, and glass bottles of Coca Cola.
The table is full of simple snacks on it during the day, including popcorn, watermelon, and pasta salad. A mason jar style drink dispenser filled with ice water on my galvanized drink pedestal from Pottery barn makes filling and refilling reusable plastic tumblers from the Dollar Tree a breeze and keeps everyone hydrated. My galvanized bottle holder, also from Pottery Barn, holds the cups, small bottles of Gatorade, and cloth napkins I made. Of course we will have adult beverages, and to help keep the glass cool, and safe, I added some HTV to koozies I found in the Target Dollar Spot. Guests will be able to take them home, or leave them for future cook outs at our house. The main course will be grilled and yummy!
The dessert table is a store bought Dutch Apple Pie, red, white, and blue M&M’s(on sale through the weekend), glass bottles of Coca Cola, and later, ice cream in the galvanized bucket. (Use rock salt to keep the ice in the bucket colder longer) Paper straws were embellished with the most perfect straw flags from Painting Paris Pink. I also added a “Celebrate” bunting banner (also from Painting Paris Pink) to the backdrop. Shannon did an AMAZING job bringing my vision to life, and I adore working with her. She made favor tags for the party too, and I tied them to Target Dollar Spot sunglasses, and put them in a Dollar Spot basket. She is also allowing me to share the full printable set for FREE! (Grab them at the bottom of this post, and be sure to show Painting Paris Pink some love!)
I used my lantern collection to decorate the table, the blue ones can be purchased at Pottery Barn, the white one was a gift from my mom, and the start of my collection. I use them ALL THE TIME! The kids food will be served on paper plates (from West Elm) and the adults will use the fun blue and white plates I grabbed on clearance, at, you guessed it, Pottery Barn. I love these plates! And, at just $6 a plate, I felt like I was stealing them!
I also made a giant Yatzee game for the yard, and we have our corn hole games, as well as our pool for fun! We are all so excited to celebrate this weekend!
A HUGE thanks to Painting Paris Pink for allowing me to share the FREE printables with you! Download the Celebrate Pennant Banner, Gift Tags, and Straw Flags.
