I know it’s not even Halloween, but it is time to start thinking about Thanksgiving in my house. What’s on the menu, who’s on the guest list? Will I decorate? Or will it just be <poof> Christmas in my home the day after Halloween. And, while it will likely be the same menu, most of the same guests, and most definitely be decorated for Christmas, I will have a few things out for Thanksgiving too. And, I think I will update our family sign and use the split monogram cut file I created for this month’s Free Family Themed SVG Files hop.

DIY Signs
I love designing cut files to make signs for my home. I have them all over. We have a 6′ sign that says GROCERY over our pantry. And I shared this Farmhouse Sign DIY when I made this oversized sign hanging above my bed.
Make a Family Sign
I like to make my signs with HTV and my Cricut. It eliminates a messy step and I don’t have to worry about paint bleeding through the stencils. If you are a crafty DIY’er, you can probably find all of the supplies you need to make this sign in your house already. If not, check out my Amazon Store for some of my favorite tools!

- Cricut, Silhouette, or GlowForge
- Paint
- HTV
- EasyPress
- Wooden Sign Blank
First, download the cut file and upload it to your design program. Then, size it to fit your sign blank. I typically use scrap wood in the garage. I just sand it and lightly paint it first. If it is plywood, I add a thin wood border around it.
If you are using HTV, be sure to mirror it and put the HTV on the cutting mat shiny side down. Once it is cut, weed the excess HTV and press it onto the wooden sign blank.
