Halloween Treats No Tricks
We are in full Halloween countdown mode over here! I LOVE Halloween, it’s the first Holiday of the Fall and Winter seasons. Halloween really just gets me ready for all of the other holidays. Our family has grown close to many of our neighbors, especially one of our boys. He is always going to visit the neighbors and never goes empty handed. This weekend, we were talking, and my son asked me to make our favorite holiday treat, Cracker Toffee, but for Halloween Treats. With his help, we had several trays of Halloween goodness. And, of course, he had to take some to the neighbors.
If you decide to make a purchase through my links, I will be paid a small commission for it. This doesn’t cost you anything additional.
Halloween Food
I am not a big fan of super gross and creepy Halloween foods and treats. I really prefer sweet, preppy Halloweens. My guys are fans of gross Halloween treats. We compromised on these Halloween desserts, and added creepy eyes and halloween jimmies to the orange and white cracker toffee top. The boys would have preferred red candy melts and severed fingers on top. And, since we have already run out of my version of Halloween Cracker Toffee, I may just let them make more their way!
Halloween Recipe
Cracker toffee is super easy to make, and always turns out totally delicious. You only need a few ingredients and a few minutes of time to make a batch!
Ingredients and Supplies
Butter
Halloween Jimmies and Sprinkles
Baking Pan or Cookie Sheet (these are my favorites, but I had an extra disposable pan at home)
Cracker Toffee
Ingredients
- 1-2 Sleeves Saltine Crackers
- 2 Sticks Butter
- 1 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1 Bag Chocolate Candy Melts or Chocolate Chips
- Candy Jimmies
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350*
-
Line baking sheet with parchment paper and add a layer of saltine crackers, set aside.
-
Over medium heat, cook butter and brown sugar until boiling. Allow to boil for 2-4 minutes, stirring occassionally. (This will make the most delicious soft caramel)
-
Pour caramel over crackers, try to cover each one.
-
Place tray in oven for 5 minutes.
-
Remove the crackers and sprinkle Candy Melts on top.
-
Place the tray back in the oven for 1-2 minutes.
-
Remove the tray and allow to cool for 1 minute.
-
Gently spread and swirl candy melts over the caramel.
-
Sprinkle with holiday jimmies.
-
Refrigerate for several hours.
-
Remove cracker toffee from tray and break into bite size treats.
Since the boy was taking some of the Halloween Snacks to the neighbors, I made a fun little tag to tie on to the bags too. You can download it free with the code TorT2019.
