Disney Villains Playdate.  If you know me even a little tiny bit, you know I love all things Disney.  I vividly remember my first visit to Walt Disney World, and each and every visit since.  My boys love Disney too, but, I have a niece, and my niece, like all little girls, LOVES Disney.  All things Disney, not just the Pixar movies.  So, when I saw the new Disney Villains Cartridge for Cricut, I knew I would be hosting a Disney Villains playdate for my niece, her little friends, my nephew, and my own boys.

 

The party was simple, and full of DIY projects. First, I decided how I wanted the party table to look.  I wanted villainous, but not scary and dark.  My husband and I painted a sheet of thin plywood we have in the garage to look like castle bricks.  It only took about 2 hours total.  I quickly painted a base coat of grey paint on the board.  (The grey is left over from my boys’ bathroom.)  Once that was dry, I drew black “mortar” lines with a thick sharpie marker.  My husband helped with that, and then added curves and made the lines thicker while I used a mix of DecoArt paint to add dimension to the bricks.  It took less than 3o minutes to do the lines and the paint accents.  I let it dry overnight.  I also wanted to soften the look of the edges of the brick backdrop, so I hung deep red curtains on each side of the backdrop.  (I have an inexpensive backdrop stand I purchased on Amazon a few months ago, and I was able to use heavy duty clips to clip the plywood to the backdrop stand) I borrowed a mirror from a friend and added Cricut Window Cling to give it a hazy look without damaging the mirror, then, I used my Cricut to cut vinyl flames and “Magic Mirror on the wall…” and layered it over the Window Cling.  It was the perfect focal point for this party! 

The table was draped with a simple black table cloth.  Cake stands and apothecary jars were filled with yummy treats and party favors and placed on the table.  SweetWorks Candy sent me all the fabulous candies for the apothecary jars and the kiddos were ecstatic to have access to all of the candies and gum balls. Sparkling Sweets Boutique sent the amazing Queen of Hearts and Ursula treats for the party.  I added Sixlets to the serving tray and placed the mini donuts and chocolate covered cookies on top. (There may have been a heated discussion or two over who got to eat the last cookie and donut)  I made some chocolate drizzled pretzel rods and added a green Sixlet to the top to make Maleficent’s Scepters.  They stood in a small apothecary jar of Sixlets.  I also made small round Rice Krispie Treats with chocolate dalmatian spots on them.  Cupcakes with Captain Hook cupcake toppers were served with gold pirate coins.  Of course we had to try to balance the sugar rush with some healthier options, so I had juicy red apples on the table too.  Red juice was served in crystal champaign glasses.  All the treats were labeled for their villain, and I made the food tents with images from the Cricut Disney Villains Cartridge.  The Cricut cut AND printed the labels, so easy!  Fern and Maple Events sent over the awesome party favor boxes and tiny glass bottles on the table.  The kids flipped for the boxes.  Each one was made custom for the villains.  Natalie nailed it with these boxes! 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I was able to make AWESOME coloring pages for each villain using my Cricut.  My boys loved watching it draw the coloring sheets. 

 

 

I also made some fun printable iron ons of each villain with my Cricut and Cricut Iron Ons.  Each kiddo picked their favorite villain, and I was able to make them their own shirt.  

 

Our party was full of villainous fun!
