I want to start this post by acknowleding that I am not of Hindi descent. I do not practice Eastern religions, and my study of them is very limited. However, I feel like it is so important for me to use my space to share and celebrate as many holidays as I can, while still being sensitive to the religion and people that does celebrate. And, to that end, I decided to create and share a free printable Happy Diwali Banner.
What is Diwali?
Diwali is a festival of lights and is one of the major festivals celebrated by Hindus, Jains, and Sikhs. The holiday is celebrated during the months of October or November. And, Diwali embodies the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.”
Prior to celebrating Diwali, families are known to clean and renovate their homes, and decorate with diyas or oil lamps.
Diwali is believed to be a fusion of ancient festivals in India.
Free Printable Happy Diwali Banner
I researched, and reread my world religion books before I created this banner. I wanted to create something simple, but beautiful to use during Diwali celebrations.
