Modern Lego Party
Modern Lego Party by Sweet Georgia Sweet. Who didn’t love Legos as a little kid? I had so many! My favorite was a little motorcycle set I had.
From Bethany:
When my 7 year old told me that he wanted a Lego Party for his 8th birthday, I got to planning. After researching tons of ideas, I finally narrowed down a more modern, crisp, clean approach to highlight this favorite children’s toy.
When approaching how I planned to decorate, I used lots of white and the incorporated the traditional Lego colors minimally throughout. For the backdrop, I used simple honeycomb balls in differing sizes. To accent the dessert table, I created a pennant garland which created that pop of color against the white tablecloth. I also used simple clear balloons filled with confetti and tied at varying heights to the lunch boxes. I made a Lego banner for the birthday boy & he even hung it in his room after the party was over.
The focal point of the dessert table was a two-tiered buttercream cake which continued our modern vibe by balancing out those primary colors with lots of white. The cake was topped with a personalized Lego fondant man complete with a W for Walker and the number 8. The cupcakes were topped with fondant circles and Lego blocks. The cake pops were a favorite of the party guests & looked simply perfect covered in nonpareils. Minimalist chocolate covered rice krispy treats were topped with mini M&Ms and the Lego man designed cookies were both adorable and delicious. Additionally, we gave each child a candy wand party favor.
We served all of the party guests lunch and then had a simple activity center where we divided the children into groups and gave each group a bucket of Legos. We provided different challenges for the teams to complete using their Legos and then we had a judge determine the winner. The children loved this activity and continued playing long after the challenges were over. It was a great party! The birthday boy was very happy……. and that was all that mattered!
