Shark Week Shirt DIY.  If you’ve followed the blog for a while, you know I am a huge fan of Shark Week…my whole family is, even my nephew.  For the last few years, we have made new Shark Week Shirts for the boys, and this year is no different.

We recently surprised my nephew with a Shark Week themed birthday party.  I thought it would be cool to make him a shirt and a gift bag (and his little sister a shark tooth shirt).  I pulled out my Cricut and vinyl and got to work.  I made the bag and two shirts the day of his party, before I set everything up.  I promise it was a quick craft, and they turned out adorable!

Supplies:

Cricut and Cutting Mat
Iron On Vinyl
Shark Shapes in Cricut Access
(You can use this link and adjust the image size to fit your shirt or bag too)
Shirt, bag, or other fabric to decorate

Open Cricut Design Space and adjust the image to fit your shirt or bag, I love that Cricut has a canvas size option, it makes sizing images a no brainer!
Send it to the mat to get cut, don’t forget to MIRROR the image before you cut, and cut iron on vinyl shiny side down.
Weed the image, and iron it on according to the package instructions.  I use parchment paper between my iron and the vinyl, but a thin piece of fabric works too. I also use my kitchen counters when I iron on vinyl, I get the best results when I use a hard flat surface to iron on.

Once the vinyl is secure, remove the clear transfer film, and turn your shirt or bag inside out and iron the back side of the vinyl for about 30 seconds.  I found the fuzzy vinyl took a little longer to iron on than regular vinyl.
