Friday Night Lights with Tony’s Pizza. When I was in high school, I always wanted to live in the neighborhood we live in now. It’s not an extravagant neighborhood, but, it’s a nice working class neighborhood, with quiet tree lined streets and sidewalks for the kids. I don’t know why I loved it so much as a teenager, but I was so excited to be able to buy our home here nearly 13 years ago. Since we bought the house, our oldest son has gone through elementary school, middle school, and is finishing high school. Our second son was a toddler when we bought the house, and he’s now finishing middle school; our youngest two have never known another neighborhood, and all of their memories are here at this home. When we moved in so many years ago, we would hear my old high school’s marching band practice each evening after school. As the boys grew, we would listen to the marching band practice throughout the week. Sometimes, we would walk over to the school to watch Friday Night Lights Football. {And, the football team is so much better than they were when I went to school there} As children do, my boys have continued to grow, and find different activities to keep us all busy, but one night recently we found ourselves with nothing to do on a Friday night, so I prepped a fun meal for us, and we all walked up to watch The Patriots play.
I wanted to surprise the boys, so I ran to Walmart to grab some Tony’s® Pizzeria Style Cheese Pizzas. Grab this coupon for $1 off 2. And be sure to enter to WIN amazing prizes from Tony’s too! #WinWithTonysPizza #Sweepstakes – Walmart (9/19 to 10/17) The boys love Tony’s because it’s authentic pizzeria style pizza, and has been for over 50 years. Since the ’60’s Tony’s has taken great pride in serving communities with layers of light, crispy, crunchy crust topped with sauce made from real tomatoes and covered in 100% real mozzarella cheese with all your favorite toppings. While I was at Walmart, I grabbed some tater tots, and a pre-frosted chocolate cake. I already had everything else I needed for our fun Friday Night!
Before everyone got home from school, and after school activities I set up the table with a few cake plates, a fun bleacher style food riser, and a mini goal post and banner. While the pizza and tater tots were in the oven I used a football shaped cookie cutter to cut out the cake. I used white icing to add laces and trim to the football cakes. I added them to treat cups and put them on the food bleachers. Once the tater tots were done cooking, I put a scoop in a few more treat cups and topped them with grated cheese and chopped green onions. I put the cups of tater tots on a baking sheet back into the oven for a few more minutes to let the cheese melt while I cut the Tony’s pizzas. I stacked slices of Tony’s on cake plates. I pulled the tater tot cups out of the oven and added them to the bottom of the food bleachers. I had sour cream and diced tomatoes to top them with too.

The boys loved being able to grab a few slices of Tony’s and even pre-made cups of loaded tots. Since dinner was quick and easy, the boys played two on two football with a giant inflatable football we have.
I would love to make Friday nights like this an annual tradition with the boys…I think if I can keep finding fun ways to feed them they will be game.
