Simple DIY Halloween Costume and Treat Bag. Last month I was invited to attend Cricut’s Launch event for their new Maker Machine. You guys, Cricut can throw an amazing launch party, but, they can also make an amazing machine! I am so in love with the new Maker Machine and all the things it can do!
My sweet niece goes to a small Christian pre-school, so the costumes the kids wear to school have to be completely innocent, no characters, no witches…you get the idea. My niece also has a black cat that she adores. So, asked my son and 100 Directions to help me create a cat ear SVG. Eli drew it, and Jen from 100 Directions converted it into an SVG.
Upload the Cat’s Ear SVG into DS, and ungroup it. Duplicate the black part of the ear, and mirror it.
Weld the two black ear sections together to create a foldable ear.
Duplicate the foldable ear, and the pink inside. Mirror the ear, and it should look like this.
I used Kunin Group Felt on a blue Cricut cutting mat. The rotary blade on the Maker cut that felt like butter! Seriously, so simple.
I hot glued the pink parts onto the black foldable ear, and then hot glued the ears onto a simple black headband.
My niece is going to help me make a black tutu and cat tail for her costume too.
While she was here, she asked if we could make her a candy bag too, so I fired up my Maker and cut a black cat and a simple yellow circle from Cricut Iron On Vinyl with the Maker. I am still waiting to get an Easy Press, so, I used my iron, but an Easy Press would have allowed my little niece to help me make her bag too.
My sweet little black cat will be all ready for the pre-school trick or treat and I am so excited we were able to make ears and a bag in less than 15 minutes!
Download the Cat Ear SVG here.
Now, would you like to win a Cricut Maker of your own? Of course you would!
