Teen Beach Movie Birthday Party
My third son LOVES the Disney Channel, he begs to watch Teen Beach Movie all.the.time! When we finally sat down to plan his party, he asked for a Teen Beach Movie theme. It’s a cute movie, I get a West Side Story, Beach Blanket Bingo, somewhat silly Disney TV movie vibe…
There are three character groups in the movie, the surfers, the bikers, and the bad guys.
Initially we wanted to have the party at the beach, but logistically it was just too difficult. We set up the party at our house instead. We rented a giant water slide, and had it set up in the back yard with our pool.
We scheduled the party during a non meal time to help save money, and served lots of snacks and drinks. Instead of a traditional dessert table outside in the heat and the water play, I set up a snack table. I placed an iPod Juke Box on the table that played the Teen Beach Movie soundtrack. I hung a surfboard flat sheet behind the table as the backdrop. I served cut watermelon in snow cone cups, and carrots and celery in orange ice cream style cups. I added Dollar Tree wood grain contact paper around the cup to give them a little old school surfer vibe. I also used a fun tiered tray to hold chips, and a surfboard dip bowl set I have had for years for the dips and salsa. Inside, I styled our dining room table with several dozen cupcakes make by my wonderful friend. I printed surfboard pics from the Disney webpage and glued them to toothpicks and placed them in the cupcakes. I decorated the table with beach balls from Oriental Trading Co. and other treats.
I really needed to keep the party affordable, so I used items we had at home already. I used foam board pieces I found at Home Depot in the cull lumber bins for $0.50 each. My husband and I cut longboard shapes out of the foam and spray painted them or covered them with more Dollar Tree wood grain contact paper, and embellished them with Duct Tape. I placed the surfboards on our back deck, with a banner made by my amazing assistant, La Belle Party Planning, and our mini choppers.
The party was a ton of fun, and my little man said it was his favorite yet, although, he says that after every party.
