How to Plan an Awesome Baby Shower
I am so excited to have Spaceships and Laser Beams here today sharing how to plan an awesome baby shower! Stephanie was the first big blog I was featured on and she has been a constant source of encouragement as well as a library of knowledge as I stumble through the blogging world.
Is it time to welcome a new baby into the world? That’s another reason to throw a party! I see lots of parties on my blog, Spaceships and Laser Beams, where we specialize in parties for boys (and non-frilly girls), so I have lots of party ideas to pass along. All parties are fun occasions, but baby showers are especially sweet!
Get Ready for a Baby Shower!
In addition to deciding where to host the party, there are five main aspects of the shower to consider: invitations; decorations; menu; activities; and favors. All of those areas will be easier to plan once you decide on the “glue” that holds the entire party together: the theme.
There are several ways to decide on a baby shower theme, but debating these ideas is what I find most beneficial:
- Is the party focus to primarily be on welcoming baby? If so, then you will focus more on childhood joys, nursery rhymes, characters from Disney, books, etc.
- Will the shower primarily honor mom-to-be and her interests/hobbies? If so, then you will center on her favorite places (Paris?), music, spa-at-home ideas, etc.
- Is there a seasonal idea or special color scheme that would help you create?
- What ambiance do you want to establish? Is this casual, formal or somewhere between the two?
Prepare for Your Baby Shower
Once you have your theme, it’s time to start collecting, buying and making your party goods. If you are going with a unique idea, you might be more likely to find what you need online. Some etsy businesses do everything according to your needs and others allow you to download and print for yourself. There are even free, downloadable baby shower printable options. Many of these items can be used in multiple ways, so be sure to give your imagination some room as you look over the potentials.
Hosting a baby shower can be one of the most fun parties to give. It takes work (fun work!) and not just a little effort—but it’s so worth it when you know the pleasure and good memories you’re creating for mom-to-be.
