Simple Easter Decor Project. I have shared before how I don’t like to reuse the same holiday decorations from year to year. I reuse the sentimental pieces and the larger ones, but the small stuff, I like to repurpose or donate from year to year. My go to tools for decorating for holidays and parties are my Cricut machines, and the woodworking tools. My boys have been asking me to pick up Shrinky Dink “paper”, one needs it for school and the other just like to make charms…But, I got to thinking, I wonder if my Cricut can cut that???? And, if it can, whoa! The possibilities are ENDLESS! Guess what? It cut it, and with ease! I set the dial to Poster Board and sent it through the machine 3 times. I decided to make a little bunny with a bow, from the Cricut access library. (I will say, I think I cut the bunny too big, because it puckered some in the middle when I put it in the oven.) Once I shrunk the bunny and the bow down I traced the outline on pretty scrapbooking paper, and cut it out with my Cricut scissors from the tool kit. I think if I did some serious math, I could have had the Cricut cut the paper to size, but my kids were running amuck, and the dog was digging to China in the backyard, and it just seemed easier to cut it by hand.
Once I cut the paper out, I ran it through my Xyron Sticker Maker, and stuck it to the bunny Shrinky Dink. I did the same thing with the bow, and added a quick strip of Xyron Tape Runner Tape to the bow to stick it to the bunny.
I am so smitten with this little guy, I feel like I will need to make a whole colony of rabbits. How adorable would these be as favor tags, or even food labels at an Easter celebration?
You may be wondering what else you can cut with your Cricut…I know I sure did! Crafted Sparrow shared an amazing post about what the Cricut can cut, and I would be lying if I said I didn’t have that saved for reference!
